Athens, NY, October 3 - 6, 2014.

Anne rented this house from airbnb for the long weekend.  Our children and grandchildren joined us.  Ellie and family and we drove in the same car, Joe and family stay for two nights, getting in late Friday and leaving after lunch on Sunday.

The house is situated at Sleepy Hollow Lake, outside of Athens, NY.  There is a strong hint of fall this time of years, with considerable fall foliage colors.  The area is quiet, which suited us just fine.  We did visit Olana State Historic Site, of Hudson River School fame (so I am told,) and went apple picking after Joe left.

Here are some pictures from the trip.

Apple picking at Don Baker Farm.  We discovered this variety called Northern Spy which tasted really good.  The red delicious were a bit disappointing.

Pumpkin patch at Don Baker Farm.

Lakeside park at the end of Tammy Trail.

Emmie gladly shared some of her cheerios with Reid.

Reid always tries to get somewhere (else.)  Emmie, on the other hand, seemed happy to stay in this yoga pose.

Iconical fall scene.  The colors while not brilliant were nonetheless pleasant.

 Playing together with coasters.

Grandma with her two grandchildren.  She is happy.

Inside a Hudson, NY restaurant.  Some had trouble staying still.

Olana State Historic Site.  Home of Hudson River School painter Frederic Church.  His paintings remind me of those of J. M. W. Turner's.

Lakeside dock of house.  Chair a bit too big?
