Cape May and Lancaster, PA. May 19 - 22, 2011.

We went down to Cape May to watch the shorebird migration and horsecrabs spawning.  Somewhat disappointing compared to expectations.  We learned to identify quite a few birds, including the Red Knot which used to be quite rare.  Joined a tour on the boat "The Skimmer" run by a husband/wife team.

Fiddlers Crabs in Pond

Tri-Colored Heron and an Unknown Bird

Laughing Gulls Mating.  We have a video of this, but too risque to post.

Collection of Laughing Gulls, Red Knots, Ruddy Turnstones, and Sanderlings.

Trip to Lancaster was to have lunch with Hope International's China staff to learn about their plans for the upcoming year, and to attend Hope's annual celebratory dinner at the Lancaster Convention Center.

It was quite late when we were done, so we decided to stay in the Lancaster area for the night, and drive back to NJ in time for Anne's Sunday School class.
