I/we made several trips to the Boston area during this time period. Some have to do with my involvement with Ember Community Church in Quincy, some are family affairs with Joe P and his family. I thought I would just list the trips we made (some portions I made by myself), and perhaps record the reasons for making them. I/we stayed in Putnam while we were in the area.
Saturday 3/21/2026 - Sunday 3/22/2026.
Main purpose was to attend a "Town Hall Meeting" at Ember. I was the MC. I came by myself.
Tuesday 4/7/2026 - Monday 4/13/2026.
Main reason was to join Joe P and Emmie in attending a concert at BSO, with Lang Lang performing the Grieg piano concerto as the headliner.
Anne was here 4/8 (after her class) to Saturday 4/11 (she had to teach at church on Sunday).
I was able to attend the Somerville All-City Middle School Spring Concert on 4/7.
Saturday 5/2/2026 - Sunday 5/3/2026.
Provided translation/interpretation for visiting missionary at Ember. A few of us had an early dinner at Venezia in Quincy on Sunday. It is right by a marina, but there wasn't much action as very few boats were in the water this early in the season.
I was upgraded on the BOS-EWR flight, but didn't get any notification. The plane was already in the air when I found out my seat was 3E. It wasn't worth it to move up for a slightly more spacious seat, given there was an empty middle seat next to me.
Since I was coming back up in a few days, I just brought a backpack for the BOS-EWR flight.
The flight was smooth, Anne picked me up.
Thursday 5/7/2026 - Sunday 5/10/2026.
This trip's main purpose is to attend an NEC Prep concert. Emmie plays cello. Meanwhile, I plan to go to Ember's Sunday Service. Anne has to teach at MCCC, so she will return to NJ Saturday afternoon.
We had dinner with Anny Thursday.
We drove out to Ipswich for lunch at Clam Box. Then drove through the town of Ipswich. Wonder what the characteristic of such an old town is. It was very quiet around lunch time on a Friday.
We last visited in April, 2021. The building looks the same, but the quality of the food seems to have deteriorated a bit.
Joe P and Jess asked us to look after Harrison and CC, which we love to do. So we said "yes," forgetting that we had planned to go to Ember's Friday fellowships. So we ended up skipping the latter.
The NEC Prep orchestras performed at Jordan Hall in the morning. The three orchestras played a program that lasted slightly more than an hour.
After lunch, I dropped Anne off at BOS to return to NJ. Although it was raining (at times moderately heavily), she got home in time.
Many from Ember went to visit this church building on sale in Wollaston (part of Quincy). Including a walk-through of the rather cavernous building with the real estate agent, and the discussion afterwards, we ended up spending about an hour and half.
Ming's Restaurant is just a couple of minutes away, so I stopped by to get some takeout. The food was okay, but not as good as I remembered it the couple of times I ate there.
On Sunday I attended church, afterwards I went to Logan Airport and took an earlier flight (5:30 pm instead of 7:30 pm) back to Newark. I had time to stop by the Chase Lounge.
Zoom in and you will see a small twin-propeller plane squeezed in between two jets. I wonder if the pilots in the Lufthansa 747 behind the Cessna 402C could even see the plane.
T-mobile stopped offering free WiFi on United flights recently. Ostensibly due to United moving to StarLink.
A rather circuitous flight path. We left the gate on time, but had to wait for clearance from Newark before we could takeoff.
Anne picked me up.
