Massachusetts. Multiple trips August - October, 2025.

August 24, 2025.
September 10-14, 2025.
October 18-19, 2025.

I am involved with a church planning committee.  The church is to be located in Quincy, Massachusetts.  As of this writing (September 20), the first public Sunday service will be held on November 30, 2025.

The extended planning team (of about 20 people) meet together regularly over Zoom, but we also scheduled two face-to-face 1/2-day meetings, one for August 24, and one for September 13.

Joe Jr and family were visiting at the end of August, so I just made a day trip for the 8/24 meeting, getting in at about 1:30 pm, and leaving on the 8 pm flight.  All-in-all that worked out okay.  This reminded me of my working days, for a period I would commute to the Boston area regularly.  I usually stayed overnight, though, as I would fly up after work, have meeting the next day, and fly back that evening.

For the second trip Anne came along, and we decided we would stay in the area for a few days.  Stayed at Putnam for 4 nights.

We met up with Anny and her friends at her place to celebrate her birthday.

Timeline of Ember Community Church.

There was a joint Lighthouse Fellowship and (future) Ember Community Church service on October 19.  I flew up the night before.  For the return flight it was much cheaper to take the 9 pm flight than earlier flights.  I booked the late flight, and planned to stand by for an earlier flight if it made sense.

I made the trip by myself, and stayed at Putnam.

After the service I returned to Putnam, and took a short walk with Joe P before he dropped me off at the airport in time to stand by the 7 pm flight.  That was full.  (I suspect they gave the one seat to the lady who had to catch a EWR-LHR flight.)  I did manage to get on the 8 pm flight.  The flights that afternoon were all delayed, so the plane didn't take off until after 9 pm.  When I checked the Chase Sapphire lounge when I first got to the airport, there was a long line of people trying to get in.  The later flight did allow me to get in, so I grabbed something to eat there before boarding the plane.

When I was first cleared on the standby list, this was the boarding pass issued.  I was in boarding group 2, but eligible for Preboard.  The gate agent was equally confused.

Eventually it became boarding group 1.
