Vernon Township, NJ. April 1 - 7, 2023.

Ellie and family rented an apartment in the Mineral Springs Resort, and Anne and I tagged along for several days.

The drive to the resort from our house was about 1:30 hours.  It was nice to be around the grandchildren.  I will just post some pictures from the trip; many of them were taken by Anne.

Accommodation: 3 Telluride Ct, Unit 2, Vernon Township (6 nights).

The Condo we stayed in at Telluride Court, part of the Crystal Springs complex in Vernon Township, NJ.

Everyone is looking at something, including the 2-year old Everly.

An elevator car that took miner into and brought them out of the mine shafts.  Sterling Hills Mining Museum.

When there is water, stalagmites and stalactites form.  Question is should these be preserved?  Somewhat like artificial vs real diamonds.

The museum also houses a collection of luminescent rocks.  These are fluorescent.

Phosphorescence is when the rocks contain to emit light after the light source is turned off.

Kids at the Museum.

The museum also has a collection of rocks and crystals that are quite interesting.

Kites Restaurant at the resort.  I imagine the name refers to the birds, which are plentiful in the area.  Adding to my collection of places I have eaten Fish and Chips.

A petting zoo set up by a contractor to the hotel.

The condo are right next to a chair lift.

The Appalachian Trail goes over this part of New Jersey.  The hiker we passed by told us they had to walk in the swamp before this boardwalk was built.

We started on the west side of this map.

Many turtles taking advantage of the morning sun.

Reid and Maisie went rock-climbing.  All the tree climbing in Hawaii came in handy.

For a fee you can pick a rock at the Franklin Minerals Museum.
